Here

Sorry, the first IKJK/4-Square anthology, was in the MoCCA notes today on Newsarama’s Best Shots. We’re way way at the bottom, but check it out! There was also a review of Sorry on Optical Sloth a week or so back, if you didn’t see it give it a read!

Also, a shout out to Rich Tommaso and James Sturm for getting Satchel Paige into the New York Times book review this past Sunday. They got a really smart, positive review. If you haven’t seen this book yet, you’re missing out.

MoCCA ‘08: It was a scorcher!

Monday, June 9th, 2008

In more ways than one. The weather was hot, the books were even hotter, and there was a fire scare in the Puck building that sent us all out into the blazing inferno for a half-hour or so. But the I Know Joe Kimpel crew had a great time this year despite (or because of) all the hawtness.

Billy Idol

First, we sacrificed a small goat to Billy before we set off for MoCCA, to ensure a good harvest.

IKJK Banner

Then we hung up our sweet new banner.

Jeff & Bob

Bob Oxman and Jeff Lok stood proudly beneath the banner, overseeing our wares.

Colleen Frakes had an impressive spread of books, and sold out of all the copies she brought with her of the new Xeric edition of Tragic Relief. Don’t worry, there are still copies to be had in the IKJK online store.

Girls Don’t Poop was the surprise sensation of the IKJK table, and Mario van Buren is working on reprinting as we speak.

After that poop mania spread through MoCCA like wildfire!

Ken Dahl graced our table with a stack of Welcome to the Dahlhouse.

Denis St. John distracted Lynda Barry so that we could snap this covert pic.

Lynda Barry

But then Emily and her mom managed to corral Lynda at her What It Is book signing and convinced her to take a legit, if geeky, photo with them. What a lovely lady she is, and meeting her was truly one of the highlights of MoCCA ‘08.

Sam Gaskin showed off his dry underarms at the Secret Acres table. His new book Fatal Faux Pas kicks ass!

Soon it was time to count our cash.

Mad billz.

In short, MoCCA ‘08 was awesome. Keep checking the blog in the coming weeks as we’ll have many new books for sale in the MoCCA aftermath.
