Stumptown 2009 Report

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Stumptown 2009 was two tons of fun!

I Know Joe Kimpel shared table space with the Center for Cartoon Studies, Tragic Relief and Jon Chad Comics.

As usual, Girls Don’t Poop was the bestseller, with Jon’s comics coming in at a close second. There are new Girls Don’t Poop and Tragic Relief t-shirts, which will also be at MECAF, MoCCA and SPX!

Pictures soon, right now, sleep!

“Trivial” Reviewed

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

A great review of Trivial is up today on Midnight Fiction. I won’t try to paraphrase since Richard says it all… go check it out!  I agree with every word. Thanks, Richard!

If you haven’t been to Midnight Fiction, it’s a great site all about mini-, alt, and small-press comics.  Partner site of the equally great Poopsheet.  Check them both out!  There’s a lot of great stuff in both places

What a Wonderful Event!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I know I’m chiming in a few days late here, but our photographer was on the road and I wanted to wait until we could put up pics.

The event was amazing!!

We had a full house… it was difficult to walk from the front to the back of the store with all the guests crowded in.  A.L. and Alexis started things off early.  Sean joined in a bit later and Alex rolled in with a visiting Joe Lambert a little bit later.  Even though the event was planned for 7:30-9 it started at 7 and went to 9:30.  A bunch of copies of the book moved, and the beer and wine flowed.  Salesman Tony Shenton and podcast personality Mr. Phil joined in the festivities.

After the event we moved the party around the corner to Peculier Pub, who were kind enough to reserve us a few tables in back.  After that, I begin to lose track of time, except remembering seeing the clock roll past 6 in the morning.

Many thanks to Brad, our photographer, to everyone who showed up, and of course to Thompson Street Comics’ proprietor, Preston.
